The Caribbean’s economic viability and sustainability must continue to attract the attention of leaders and policymakers in all walks of life as the region continues to grapple with the challenges of the 21st century.

As part of its continued growth plan, the Caribbean Travel Guru training program, managed by CTO, will be hosting a number of trade roadshows across the UK and Ireland this year.  

CTO secretary general Hugh Riley announced that the pace of growth of Caribbean tourism outperformed every major tourism region in the world in 2015.

The Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) signed an Agreement on January 27, 2016 with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) that will allow the Agency to develop a novel regional tourism health information, monitoring and response system.

Public health authorities in the Caribbean are working diligently to mitigate the effects of the Zika virus. Zika, also known as ZIKV, is spread primarily by the Aedes aegypti mosquito.

With the start of the New Year comes the launch of a new initiative by the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) – 2016 The Year of Romance in the Caribbean.
