Royal Caribbean Group has signed an agreement with Finnish shipbuilder Meyer Turku to construct a fourth Icon Class ship, set for delivery in 2027. The agreement includes options to build a fifth and sixth ship in the series, reinforcing the company's commitment to expanding its innovative fleet. The new addition follows the successful launch of the Icon of the Seas in January 2024 and the upcoming debut of its sister ship, Star of the Seas, in 2025.

Jason Liberty, President and CEO of Royal Caribbean Group, highlighted the enthusiasm for the Icon Class, stating that it has surpassed expectations in guest satisfaction and financial performance. The expansion aims to continue the brand's growth by providing guests with revolutionary vacation experiences that combine elements of beach retreats, resort escapes, and theme park adventures.

The collaboration with Meyer Turku marks a significant milestone for Finland's shipbuilding industry. Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo expressed confidence in the positive economic impact, emphasizing the strength of Finland's maritime cluster and the world-class capabilities of its shipyards. Tim Meyer, CEO of Meyer Turku, praised the partnership as a testament to their innovation in naval architecture, energy efficiency, and customer experience.

Royal Caribbean's order is part of a broader strategy to drive moderate capacity growth and transform vacations into lifelong memories for guests. With this latest agreement, Meyer Turku has constructed 21 ships for Royal Caribbean Group over 28 years. The shipbuilder's order book remains strong, reflecting its leadership in the maritime industry's green transition.

The announcement comes amidst growing anticipation for Royal Caribbean Group's newbuild pipeline, which includes seven ships currently on order and options for two more. The company has recently introduced several industry-leading vessels, such as Utopia of the Seas and Silver Ray, and has also planned for a seventh Oasis Class ship, debuting in 2028.
