Fewer Tourists Expected to Visit the Big Apple in 2017

NYC & Company, the city’s marketing tourism agency, has announced that it expects some 300,000 fewer international visitors in 2017 in Manhattan and its surrounding boroughs.

The agency cites a negative political environment, anti-immigration policies, travel bans and restriction rhetoric as the main reasons for the expected decline.

In order to offset waning tourism interest, NYC & Company has unveiled a new media campaign that targets leading international visitor markets like the United Kingdom, Mexico, Germany and Spain.

The campaign aims to reassure travel fears and relay the message that Manhattan remains the same and welcomes everyone.
