Grenada, the U.S. Lift Air Service Restrictions

The U.S. and the Caribbean nation of Grenada have entered into an open skies agreement, allowing for unrestricted market access for airlines to fly between the two countries.

The agreement went in to effect on Wednesday, replacing a pact that had set limits on the number of airlines that could provide U.S.-Grenada service and the city pairs that could be served, State Department spokeswoman Kerry Humphrey said.

The agreement also liberalizes rules relating to cargo carriers. Airlines currently fly to Maurice Bishop Airport in Grenada from Miami, Atlanta and New York. American flies from Miami, Delta from Atlanta, and Delta and JetBlue from New York Kennedy.
