Jamaica’s Ocho Rios Wants to Attract Larger Number of Visitors

Additional funds have been approved funds for improvements in Ocho Rios to make the resort town more attractive to visitors.
Edmund Bartlett, minister of tourism, said that plans for the Ocho Rios Improvement Project include completion of a promenade from the cruise pier to the Ocean Village shopping center as well as upgrades to Main Street and the Ocho Rios Bay Beach entrance.
The funds are in addition to monies already allocated to improve the cruise ship terminal and surrounding area.
“What we will have in Ocho Rios is a renewed experience with a freshness and crispness that will be attractive to visitors,” Bartlett said.
He stressed that Jamaican food and live music become an integral component of the tourism product in the area as part of the experience for visitors.
