Jamaica Hopes to Reel In 4.2 Million Visitors in 2017

Jamaica is all set to welcome some 4.2 million tourists in 2017, Bernama News reported citing the country’s Minister of Tourism.

According to a statement issued by the ministry, foreign tourist arrivals to Jamaica increased five percent up, compared to the estimate last year, when 3.84 foreign tourists visited the country.

Minister of Tourism Edmund Bartlett said that the increased amount of foreign tourists will be translated into more business opportunities for groups related to this sector, with a positive effect on job creation.

Bartlett said the tourism ministry would organize a trade fair this year in the western city of Montego Bay to establish business opportunities in tourism and the rest of production sectors in the country.

Jamaica will also host the World Conference on Development of Sustainable Tourism in November, supported by the United Nations, organization that dedicated the year 2017 to the promotion of tourism.
