Orlando: The American Family’s Top Memorial Day Destination

As travelers prepare to hit the road for Memorial Day, AAA has announced that Orlando is the holiday's top destination.

To celebrate the influx of tourists, the Visit Orlando tourism bureau has highlighted some of the newest and most exciting attractions, restaurants and hotels for travelers to consider visiting during their Memorial Day vacation.

For the amusement park enthusiast in all of us, the Universal Orlando Resort announced that the opening of its new Volcano Bay water park will take place May 25. At the Walt Disney World Resort, the Pandora - The World of Avatar land will open May 27.

SeaWorld Orlando will open its first digitally-enhanced ride experience June 16 when the Kraken is transformed into a virtual reality roller coaster. For those traveling along Universal Boulevard, the $30 million Andretti Indoor Karting & Games facility opens in June.

Orlando's dining and nightlife scene is also blossoming.

Not only has Disney Springs opened two marquee restaurants—Homecomin' Florida and Frontera Cocina—but the world-renowned, England-based Ace Cafe Orlando also debuted earlier this month.

In the Universal CityWalk section of Universal Orlando Resort, visitors will find the new Toothsome Chocolate Emporium & Savory Feast Kitchen, offering unique takes on classic steak, seafood and pasta dishes, as well as an array of chocolates and desserts.

The city also has accommodations to keep everyone happy.

The new Loews Sapphire Falls Resort at Universal features 1,000 rooms and suites while the Cabana Bay Beach Resort is adding 400 additional guest rooms and suites. Disney's Wilderness Lodge is also adding new amenities, including an expanded sun deck and zero-depth-entry pool.

Regardless of which attractions, hotels or restaurants you visit during Memorial Day, Orlando has something for every member of the family.
