Silver Airways to Start Florida-Manzanillo Flights in December

The first flight from South Florida to the city of Manzanillo in eastern Cuba is scheduled to arrive on December 16 this year. Silver Airways will use 34-seat Saab 340 aircraft on this route that will include three weekly flights from Fort Lauderdale.
The new airlift is slated for Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and the initial price tag for the one-way leg will be $98.
Representatives from Silver Airways visited the city of Manzanillo recently and were pleased with the airport’s infrastructure to assimilate flights from the U.S. Works are under way now to upgrade the main runway and raise the height of the outer fence.
The Sierra Maestra International Airport in Manzanillo operates with Canada-based Sunway Airlines. The company flies twice a week on Boeing 737 aircraft during the high-peak travel season.
