Air France is continuing to expand its long-haul international network, the largest in the world, with a new destination in South America: Montevideo. The capital city of Uruguay will be served as from 16 April 2013 by 5 weekly flights, as an extension of the flight to Buenos Aires.

Delta Airlines will be pulling its service out of Guyana. No reason has so far been given for the pullout. The final date of service is reportedly May 13, 2013. The disclosure came after customers attempting to book flights on Delta for later this year encountered problems having their bookings taken.

Passengers with Spanish airline Iberia are likely to face disruption in the coming weeks, with staff at the flag-carrier having announced 15 days of strikes. Staff are protesting against plans to cut 4,500 jobs at the carrier, roughly a quarter of the present workforce.

Aerolineas Argentinas, the national airline of Argentina, has announced the appointment of Flight Directors as its new General Sales Agent for United Kingdom & Ireland, with the objective of strengthening its presence and increasing its market share in this important offline market. Head of sales, Vikki Joyce, welcomed the new agreement with Aerolineas Argentinas.
