Air France-KLM reported the deterioration in the economic environment noted at the end of the first quarter of 2009 continued during the subsequent three months.

Continental Airlines, which reported a second-quarter 2009 net loss of $213 million, is eliminating approximately 1,700 positions across the company, including management and clerical positions.

US Airways customers will have more access to beautiful Caribbean beaches this fall and winter as the airline adds more nonstop flights to Barbados from its Philadelphia hub. US Airways will fly to Barbados four days a week starting Oct. 1, and then offer daily service for the winter season beginning Dec. 19.
