Tourism in Cuba has boomed with the resumption of diplomatic relations between Cuba and the U.S., and a just-published travel guide offers an up-to-date look at visiting the country.

It's the perfect Caribbean stereotype, but despite the picture-postcard nature of this idyllic stretch of beach, there's only a handful of other tourists in sight. Because this isn't Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic or Barbados; this is Haiti.

A decade ago, Guyana was only served by a few airlines. Today that number has more than doubled, and airlines have also increased existing routes in recent weeks.

Tourist arrivals in Cuba totaled more than 2.6 million as of Sept. 30, with the island hitting the figure two months earlier than in 2014, the National Statistics Office said.

South Africa said Friday it will overhaul its controversial new visa regulations after the tourist arrivals fell by six percent earlier this year, the biggest decline in six years.

This month, NexusTours secured its spot as a destination management leader in Cuba with an agreement with Grupo Gaviota.
