The pace of travel to Cuba has accelerated since December, when President Obama loosened travel restrictions. That pace can be seen in visitor numbers, which in June alone topped 218,000, a 20.6% increase over June 2014, according to Cuba’s National Office of Statistics and Information.

To succeed as a tourist destination, each Caribbean country banks on the support of the government, hotel partners, investors, developers, the airport authority, businesses and friendly locals.

Thailand’s visitor arrivals count surged by one million in only nine days with the arrival of the country’s 19 millionth visitor.

This trip is unusual not only in being for women only, but also in how much it focuses on the natural environment and the wildlife of the island, an area not often emphasized on trips to Cuba so far. 

Cayman’s Seven Mile Beach is again in the international spotlight, this time ranked sixth place on a list of the World’s Most Athletic Beaches.

The goal is to study the online perceptions American tourists have of the island’s hotels and destinations, and find out how they size up Cuba.
