Grupo Piñero presented Thursday its new tour operator, Soltour Travel Partners, at an event in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, before 300 travel agents in an event attended by Dominican President Luis Abinader.
The new business project, Soltour Travel Partners, is the result of an alliance with Logitravel and was created with the aim of advising travel agencies to contribute to the creation of an offer that encourages people to "have the illusion of traveling again," said the president of Grupo Piñero, Encarna Piñero.
Mrs. Piñero assured that there is still "uncertainty" in the tourism sector due to the pandemic, although "the beginning of recovery is in sight".
The executive also applauded the "leadership" that the Dominican Republic "is exercising within the Caribbean in the management of the pandemic", especially for the search for solutions to the crisis in association with the private sector.
At the same event, President Abinader expressed confidence in the recovery of the tourism sector, the most important sector of the Dominican economy.
"We are going to recover stronger", said the president, while thanking travel agencies for their contribution to tourism in the Caribbean country.
The Minister of Tourism, David Collado, said that the sector is "the main spear of the economy", since it contributes 15% of the GDP and generates 500,000 direct jobs.
