Italy will impose a negative coronavirus test before entering the country and a five-day quarantine, coupled with a second test follow-up for those arriving in or returning from European Union countries, in view of the Easter vacations, sources from the Ministry of Health reported.

The Italian Minister of Health, Roberto Speranza, will sign today an ordinance providing for these measures after criticism received about the possibility that tourists may enter or Italians may travel abroad on vacation when the country will be confined during the upcoming Easter holidays.

The sources did not inform about the dates when these measures will be in force. The quarantine, although of 15 days, already existed for entry from non-European Union countries.
