Spain has extended the temporary restriction on non-essential travel from the European Union and linked Schengen countries until April 30 for reasons of public order and public health.

This is stated in the order published in the Official State Gazette (BOE), which extends the restrictions that ended on March 31. The previous extension was authorized last February 26, when the Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, extended the measures for another month.

However, the order establishing criteria for the temporary restriction of access by land to the Schengen area through the checkpoint of persons within the territory of Gibraltar for reasons of public health is without effect from 18:00 hours on March 30.

This decision comes a few days after the Spanish Government decided not to extend the limitation of direct flights and passenger ships between the United Kingdom and Spanish airports and ports.
