Spirit Airlines Takes Off to Key West with New Nonstop Route

Spirit Airlines is expanding its footprint in Florida with the launch of the only nonstop service between Key West (EYW) and Fort Lauderdale (FLL). Starting November 6, 2025, the new route will operate four times per week, increasing to daily flights beginning December 18, 2025.
The new service will offer travelers a fast and affordable alternative to the long drive to the Florida Keys, along with convenient one-stop connections through Spirit’s hub at Fort Lauderdale, linking Key West with major U.S. cities like Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Detroit, Houston, New York, Philadelphia, and more.
“Key West is a one-of-a-kind beach destination, and now travelers can easily access this island paradise and enjoy Spirit’s elevated Guest experience along the way,” said John Kirby, Vice President of Network Planning at Spirit Airlines.
The carrier is also offering introductory fares starting at $79 one way, available now at spirit.com.
This marks Spirit’s eighth destination in Florida, joining Miami, Orlando, Tampa, Fort Myers, Pensacola, West Palm Beach, and Fort Lauderdale.
At Key West International Airport, officials welcomed the announcement. “Spirit Airlines entering the Key West market this November is fantastic news for our passengers near and far,” said Richard Strickland, Executive Director of Airports.
Spirit’s Elevated Guest Experience includes three travel options:
-
Spirit First: Big Front Seat®, checked and carry-on bags, free snacks and drinks, priority boarding, and streaming Wi-Fi.
-
Premium Economy: Extra legroom or blocked middle seat, one carry-on, no change fees, and reserved overhead space.
-
Value: A base fare with flexible add-ons to keep travel costs low.
With this new route, Spirit Airlines continues to strengthen its commitment to connecting travelers across Florida and the U.S. with affordable, direct service and flexible options.
