Barbados to Host SOTIC 2025, Highlighting Innovation and Resilience in Caribbean Tourism

The Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) has confirmed that Barbados will host the 2025 State of the Tourism Industry Conference (SOTIC) from September 30 to October 3, 2025, at the Hilton Barbados Resort, marking a pivotal gathering for regional tourism leaders and stakeholders.
Widely regarded as the Caribbean’s premier tourism policy forum, SOTIC 2025 will bring together ministers of tourism, industry executives, international partners, students, media, and other stakeholders to explore the latest trends, challenges, and opportunities shaping the future of Caribbean tourism.
This year’s theme, “Reimagining Caribbean Tourism: Research, Relevance and the Road Ahead”, emphasizes the need for data-driven strategies and actionable solutions to boost the competitiveness and sustainability of the region. A key feature of the event will be the Regional Tourism Youth Congress, showcasing the voices and ideas of Junior Ministers of Tourism from CTO member states.
New focus areas for SOTIC 2025 include sports tourism, medical tourism, and health and wellness, sectors that align with evolving global travel preferences and present promising avenues for market diversification and economic resilience across Caribbean destinations.
“Barbados is the ideal host for this forward-thinking dialogue,” said Dona Regis-Prosper, CTO’s Secretary-General and CEO. “As we chart the future of Caribbean tourism, we must base our actions on credible research, ensure they remain relevant to today’s traveler, and collaborate to create a clear roadmap for regional transformation.”
The conference is being organized in partnership with the Barbados Ministry of Tourism and International Transport and Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc., with wide support from public and private sector entities. According to Andrea Franklin, CEO of BTMI and Chair of the CTO Board of Directors, the event reflects the region’s commitment to promoting a tourism model that is informed, inclusive, and impactful. SOTIC 2025 will also include expert panels, keynote addresses, workshops, and updates on the CTO’s “Reimagine 2025–2027” strategic plan.
