Data spaces, the Smart Destination Platform (SDP) and the digitalisation of tourism will be the main themes of the 13th edition of FITUR Know-How & Export, organised by FITUR and SEGITTUR, in collaboration with ICEX España Exportación e Inversiones, which is taking place at the International Tourism Trade Fair, from 22 to 26 January, at IFEMA MADRID.

The section will be bringing together 57 technology companies on 40 exhibition stands, offering innovative solutions for the modernisation of the tourism industry. Proposals will range from hotel digitalisation to smart destination management, positioning technology as a key factor in tourism development.

In addition, one of the key events of this space will be the 2nd edition of 'The AI for Tourism Awards 2025' that will recognise the Best AI Solution 2024.  Companies from all tourism verticals will compete for this award that appraises aspects such as technological innovation, usability, improvement of the user experience, originality and the degree of scalability of each proposal.

FITUR Know-How & Export: programme preview

The programme will include activities and presentations reflecting the strategic role of technology and sustainability in the evolution of the tourism sector.

One of the highlighted projects will be the Smart Destination Platform (SDP) which, with the support of the European Next Generation Funds, allows tourist destinations to implement technological solutions that improve their sustainability, personalisation and competitiveness. During the trade fair, case studies of destinations and companies that are already adopting these tools to offer more efficient services adapted to the needs of today's travellers will be presented.

The role of data spaces for tourism will also be one of the key points of discussion during the fair. This aspect is considered a driving force for the collaboration of the industry, both public and private entities, with the aim of using data as a tool for improving decision-making and tourism management. In addition, sustainability will continue to be a central theme of the programme, with this year's edition focusing on the sector's transition towards a circular economy model and the creation of new agricultural experiences.

SEGITTURLAB will also have a workshop area where tourism professionals will be able to find a wide range of training opportunities. Hotel digitalisation, the impact of sustainability on bookings, the innovative use of virtual tours and the implementation of smart tourism signage will be some of the themes of this space.

FITUR Know-How & Export 2025 will consolidate its position as a reference point for the transformation of the tourism sector, connecting companies, destinations and institutions with the tools and knowledge necessary to lead digitalisation.
