The Central American Tourism Agency (CATA) is gearing up with great optimism and expectations to attend the 43rd edition of the International Tourism Trade Fair (FITUR), which will be held from January 18 to 22, 2023 at IFEMA, Madrid, Spain.

The increase in tourism activity in the region, with very encouraging figures, in recent years has created an ideal climate for a definitive upturn in tourism. That is why CATA plans to participate in FITUR with an ambitious agenda to promote the complementary offerings of Central America and the Dominican Republic to the world.

The new edition of FITUR promises to consolidate itself as the global meeting point for tourism professionals, ideal for increasing the network of contacts, reaching the best personalized offers and learning about new trends for the industry.

Guatemala is listed as a partner country, and the Dominican Republic will participate as an official sponsor of the fair. With these actions, both CATA member countries open a window of opportunity for the eyes of the world to focus on the rest of the region, which stands out for its impressive natural and cultural wealth.

Within the framework of the fair, CATA will hold a press conference where the Pro Tempore Presidency of the Central American Tourism Council (CCT) and the Board of Directors of CATA will be formally handed over by Mr. David Collado, Minister of Tourism of the Dominican Republic to his counterpart Mr. Anthony Mahler, Minister of Tourism and Diaspora Relations of Belize, in the presence of the highest tourism authorities of the region.

In parallel, CATA will be developing a caravan of tourism promotion in Madrid and Barcelona respectively. The main cities of Spain will host this completely face-to-face event where they will be able to learn directly about the renewed and adapted tourism offer that the region has to offer during 2023 to travelers.

The Promotion Agency starts the year with a firm commitment to recover the spaces for the promotion, marketing and positioning of the multi-destination tourism in international markets, especially in Europe. The aim is to consolidate the full recovery of tourism in Central America and the Dominican Republic.
