Macao Unveils International Cities of Gastronomy Fest with Khaby Lame
he ten-day event, held at the Macau Fisherman’s Wharf, features 100 food booths and over 50 "live culinary showcases" designed to highlight the "creative power of food" as a driver for tourism and leisure. The festival set a new participation record, underscoring Macao’s status as a "world center" for gastronomic exchange and international tourism.
To engage a new generation of travelers, the Macao Government Tourism Office invited UN Tourism Ambassador and TikTok star Khaby Lame to headline the opening ceremonies. With over 160 million followers, Lame’s presence is part of a "digital-first marketing strategy" to showcase Macao's unique "tourism + gastronomy" blend to a global audience.
The festival also introduced a new "World Wines Lounge" and themed games, turning the traditional food fair into an "immersive experience" that combines "East-and-West cultural tapestry" with modern entertainment.
The event aligns with the broader UN Tourism goal of promoting "Creative Cities" as sustainable models for urban development and "cultural preservation."
As the "gastronomic promenade" opens to the public, the festival serves as a "vibrant reminder" that in an increasingly digital world, the "shared table" remains one of the most powerful connectors for the global human community.
