Messe Berlin Launches Indian Subsidiary to Expand ITB India

In a decisive move to deepen its footprint in South Asia, Messe Berlin has officially launched Messe Berlin India, a dedicated subsidiary headquartered in the Delhi NCR region. The new entity underscores the German trade fair giant’s long-term commitment to the Indian market, one of Asia’s most dynamic growth engines in the exhibitions and events industry.
With this expansion, Messe Berlin aims to accelerate the development of ITB India, its flagship B2B travel trade show, while paving the way for future initiatives tailored specifically to local opportunities.
According to Dr. Mario Tobias, CEO of Messe Berlin, the company’s entry into India is a deliberate step in its broader internationalization strategy.
“India is a key market for us — vibrant, diverse, and full of opportunities. With Messe Berlin India, we are laying long-term foundations to build strong partnerships, support local industries, and elevate our global platforms.”
The launch reflects Messe Berlin’s commitment to fostering innovation, collaboration, and sustainable business growth by establishing a direct presence in high-potential regions.
Leadership and Local Strategy
The new subsidiary will be led by Katrina Leung, Vice President Asia Pacific at Messe Berlin and Managing Director of Messe Berlin Asia Pacific. Leung now adds the role of Managing Director of Messe Berlin India, where she will oversee the brand’s strategic expansion and operations within the country.
“Messe Berlin India marks an exciting new chapter,” Leung said. “Having a presence here allows us to deepen engagement with our partners, exhibitors, and visitors. With ITB India as our foundation, we are poised to contribute meaningfully to the growth of India’s trade fair landscape.”
The new office will serve not only as a hub for business development, but also as a springboard for future trade fairs tailored to India’s evolving market demands. It will focus on acquiring new exhibitors, fostering strategic partnerships, and enhancing customer service and local outreach.
Launched in 2023, ITB India has quickly become a cornerstone of Messe Berlin’s Asia-Pacific portfolio. Held annually in Mumbai, the three-day event connects global travel and tourism stakeholders with the Indian and South Asian markets. It runs alongside MICE Show India, Travel Tech India, and the ITB India Conference.
The upcoming edition, ITB India 2025, will take place from 2 to 4 September at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai. The show attracts key players from the MICE, Leisure, Corporate Travel, and Travel Technology sectors, offering a comprehensive platform for forging new alliances and tapping into India’s fast-expanding travel economy.
