The Alentejo region, specifically the municipality of Beja, has been selected as the epicenter for international Responsible EnoGastro Tourism. Following the success of previous editions in Uruguay and China, the Global Wine Tourism Organization (GWTO-OMET) has announced that Portugal will host the third edition of this prestigious global forum.

The choice of Beja is significant, as the town holds the title of European Wine City 2026, standing out for its commitment to "slow tourism" and the preservation of its rich cultural heritage.

The event is designed to bring together an elite group of professionals from over a dozen countries, spanning academic, private, and governmental sectors. The core focus of this summit lies in the RSS concept: tourism that is responsible towards the environment, sustainable over time, and fully satisfactory for both visitors and residents.

This model seeks to balance economic growth with the protection of natural resources and local traditions, positioning the region as a benchmark for conscious hospitality.

Key strategic pillars to be discussed include the implementation of cutting-edge technology in vineyards and the promotion of the MICE segment (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) within the wine sector.

The summit will also serve as a crucial business platform, facilitating B2B rounds with international tour operators and offering an exhibition area for global brand promotion. The Academic Forum will present the most advanced research in the comprehensive management of enogastronomic destinations developed by leading experts.

José Antonio Vidal, Founder and CEO of GWTO-OMET, emphasized that these summits are vital for strengthening destinations on the world map. According to the organization, the strategy is supported by Biosphere certification and professional training through its specialized academy.

Furthermore, constant monitoring via an Economic Observatory will allow both emerging and established destinations to adjust their offerings based on accurate data regarding the global wine tourism industry and its evolving market trends.

The experience in Baixo Alentejo promises to be a total immersion in wine culture, where attendees will explore landscapes defined by ancient olive groves and vast plains. During the gathering, the "Who's Who in Global EnoGastro Tourism" directory will be presented, and awards will be given to establishments recognized for their operational excellence.

Ultimately, the summit will provide the stage to announce the host for the 2027 edition, maintaining the continuity of a movement aimed at transforming how the world consumes and enjoys wine.
