At the closing of the 24th edition of the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) Global Summit, it was announced that the next edition will be held in Rome, Italy. The historic city will bring together business leaders and government delegations from around the globe to discuss the latest challenges and opportunities in the sector.

Rome, one of the most iconic and visited cities in the world, is renowned for its rich historical heritage as the seat of ancient empires and is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Summit, scheduled for late 2025, will be organized in collaboration with Italy’s Ministry of Tourism, marking the event’s return to Europe after six years. The last European edition took place in Seville, Spain, in 2019, with former U.S. President Barack Obama as the keynote speaker.

Julia Simpson, WTTC President and CEO, stated: "History tells us that all roads lead to Rome, and in 2025, we are heading to a global city filled with history but with a vibrant, forward-looking vision."

Italy’s Minister of Tourism, Daniela Santanchè, expressed her excitement about hosting the next Summit: "I am proud to announce that our nation will host the WTTC Global Summit in October 2025. This event is recognized as the most important platform for dialogue between governments and the private sector, where leaders shape the future of travel and tourism globally. We look forward to welcoming WTTC members and guests to Rome, a city rich in history and innovation."

The 25th Global Summit will be an excellent opportunity to showcase Italy’s cultural heritage and modern tourism offerings to the world’s top CEOs in the sector.

The recent Summit in Perth, Australia, was a resounding success, with 800 delegates from over 50 countries in attendance and covered by more than 100 international media outlets. Key figures such as John Kerry, former U.S. Secretary of State, and Robert Irwin, one of Australia's leading conservationists, discussed pressing global environmental challenges and the role of tourism in addressing them.

Julia Simpson added: "The success of our 2024 Global Summit in Perth is a testament to the power of innovation within the travel and tourism sector. I want to extend my thanks to the Western Australia Tourism team for all their efforts in making this Summit a reality."

Greg O'Hara, WTTC Chairman, also acknowledged the work of the Western Australia Tourism representatives in hosting the 24th Global Summit and all the delegates from around the world. The Summit addressed key issues and strategies for global growth, with a particular focus on the travel and tourism sector in Oceania, setting the stage for ongoing debate and innovation in the next gathering in Rome.
