10th Excelencias Gourmet International Gastronomic Seminar Gets Going

The 10th Excelencias Gourmet International Gastronomic Seminar kicks off this Wednesday, Oct. 10, and will be held at the Tropicana Cabaret until Oct. 13.

The event's opening ceremony will be attended by His Excellency Angel Martin Peccis, Spain's ambassador to Cuba; Maria del Pilar Masias Rutes, general director of quality and operations at the Cuban Ministry of Tourism, and Jose Carlos de Santiago, president of the Excelencias Group, among other distinguished guests.

The lectures "Food from and to. Its Hispanic-American fusion", by Mr. Julio Valles Rojo, president of the Academia Castellano Leonesa de Gastronomía, from Spain, and "Cocktails, legitimate daughter of Cuban rum, a round trip", by Mr. Eddis Naranjo, president of the Association of Cuban Bartenders, will mark the opening of an extensive program full of varied topics.

During the event, experts from several nations will gather under the title "Hispanic Gastronomy: American fusions and projections", which have come together as part of the 25th anniversary of the Excelencias Group.

The first day will feature the Cantinero X contest and the second day the Excelencias 25th Anniversary Chef contest, while on the last day the amateur competition "15x15 Contest" will take place.

On the second day, the event is decked out to welcome such keynote speakers as Pia Salazar, from Ecuador, recognized as the World's Best Pastry Chef in 2023, and Maria Marte, from the Dominican Republic, the only Latin American woman to hold two Michelin stars.

The presentation on "Techno Emotional Cuisine" will be given by María Ester Abreu and the speaker will be Pau Arenos, from Spain, journalist and writer specialized in gastronomic culture. "Haute cuisine in the Cuban hotel industry" is the title of the Masterclass given by the Corporate Chef of Blue Diamond-Cuba.

The 10th Excelencias Gourmet International Gastronomic Seminar will be attended by experts from Spain, Colombia, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Egypt, Peru and Cuba, among other Ibero-American countries, to exchange in conferences, workshops, seminars, panels, show cooking, master classes and roundtables.
