First US Hotel with Flight Simulators Opening This Fall

A unique experience awaits aviation enthusiasts and curious travelers alike as the Hotel Polaris, the first U.S. hotel equipped with flight simulators, opens this fall
Located at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado, this 375-room upscale lifestyle property promises an immersive adventure.
The hotel will feature three state-of-the-art flight simulators. Two of these will replicate the U.S. Air Force's F-16 Fighting Falcons, complete with full cockpit mock-ups, working controls, and switches. Using a mixed reality headset, guests can enjoy a 360-degree view of flying in formation. These simulators are networked, allowing two participants to fly together on the same mission, engage in dogfights, or take a scenic joyride through the valleys.
The third simulator will emulate a Boeing 737-MAX cockpit, offering a pilot's perspective with a 200-degree field of view on a seamless curved screen. Guests can engage in various flight activities, such as takeoffs and landings at challenging airports worldwide, or complete a full domestic flight from one commercial airport to another. This feature is especially appealing for aviation fans and current or retired pilots looking for a nostalgic journey.
Curtis Bova, the hotel's general manager, emphasized the immersive experience these simulators provide: "The simulators are designed to offer an authentic pilot experience, making users feel as if they are soaring through the air." Although pricing details are not yet available, reservations will be bookable online, with costs depending on the duration of the chosen activity. For example, a two-hour flight from Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD) to San Francisco International Airport (SFO) might be one of the options.
Situated approximately 25 miles from Colorado Springs Airport (COS) and 80 miles from Denver International Airport (DEN), Hotel Polaris serves as a gateway to Pike's Peak and Colorado Springs. It forms part of a mixed-use development that includes the Air Force Academy's new 32,000-square-foot Hosmer Visitor Center. The hotel's architectural design draws inspiration from the Rocky Mountains and the midcentury modern elements of the Air Force Academy.
Hotel Polaris also incorporates aviation-themed design elements throughout its premises. Guests will find brass desks resembling airplane wings in their rooms and a mosaic art wall near the conference area, created using AI to generate flight industry-specific keywords.
In addition to the simulators, the hotel will offer six dining and drinking venues. The Aviator will provide stunning views and craft cocktails, while Pamela's will serve elevated American cuisine. A rooftop bar inspired by constellations adds a fun touch to the overall experience.
The hotel's full-service spa and wellness center includes six rooms offering fitness classes, yoga, group hikes, and dietary recommendations. Guests can also enjoy an outdoor pool, sun deck, and 26,000 square feet of meeting space.
The primary attraction of Hotel Polaris will undoubtedly be the unique flight simulator experiences, catering to plane enthusiasts and aspiring military and commercial pilots. "Inspired by the hotel's namesake, we want to encourage each guest to experience it in their own way and to find their true north," Bova said.
