Flights to Cuba by Aerolineas Argentinas (Argentinean Airlines, AA) will begin on January, as well as to other destinations in the Caribbean as part of a plan to expand routes, the head of AA, Mariano Recalde, confirmed on Monday.

The Buenos Aires-Havana service will begin on Sunday, January 4, 2015, a month when routes to Cancun, Mexico; and Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic, will also commence, all of them with stopovers in Caracas, Venezuela. In order to cover these destinations, AA will use 737-800 Boeing aircraft, with a capacity of 170 passengers.

AA will start flying to Punta Cana on Saturday, January 3, three times a week (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays), while it also contemplates two flights a week to Havana on Sundays and Wednesdays, and departures to Cancun will be on Mondays and Fridays.
