Azamara Adds New Cruise Calls to Gibraltar
Azamara Club Cruises has announced it is adding two additional calls to Gibtraltar this year, following discussions in March with Minister for Tourism and the Port, Neil Costa and Claudius Docekal, Azamara Club Cruises Director of Deployment and Destinations.
Established in 2007 and owned by Royal Caribbean, the Miami-based Azamara Club Cruises, has two ships, Azamara Journey and Azamara Quest, which currently visit other places in Europe such as Copenhagen, Dublin and Rome.
Azamara Journey is scheduled to call once, while Azamara Quest will visit the Rock four times, three of them within a week, between 29 November and 3 December. Azamara Quest will also return to Gibraltar six times in 2013.
He details that the first is only a half day call, and the second is a 16-hour stay, during which passengers and crew will be able to fully enjoy what Gibraltar has to offer.
This is the second cruise liner to schedule extra calls into Gibraltar, on April 27 this year; we reported that Pullmantur is scheduling extra calls. Using the same approach of establishing personal contact with senior management responsible for itinerary planning, Mr Costa aims for more cruise liners to be added to the growing list and believes, “I am confident that with continuous work we should convince other operators to follow suit.”
Azamara Club Cruises has not yet finalised the itineraries of its two ships for summer 2014, but is considering a number of overnight calls.
