Boeing and Air Europa celebrated the Spanish carrier's 25th direct delivery of a Next-Generation 737-800. Air Europa showcased the latest addition to its fleet at a special event at its base on the Spanish island of Mallorca.

The Boeing 737-800 is one of the best-selling versions of the highly successful Next-Generation 737 family, the most technologically advanced airplanes in the single-aisle market. The Next-Generation 737's market success has been confirmed by investors who consistently rank it as the most preferred single-aisle airplane due to its wide market base, superior performance efficiency and lowest operating costs in its class.

The 737-800 forms the backbone of Air Europa's short and medium-haul fleet with the Spanish carrier set to take delivery of another nine from Boeing. In 2012, the Mallorca-based operator was the first in Spain to introduce the innovative Boeing Sky Interior to its Next-Generation 737 fleet, providing its passengers with enhanced in-flight comfort. Air Europa is also the Spanish launch customer for the revolutionary 787 Dreamliner, with eight currently on order.

Air Europa serves more than 40 destinations across Europe and the Americas, with approximately half of its fleet made up of 737-800s. Based at Palma de Mallorca Airport, Air Europa has grown to be one of the largest airlines in Spain since its formation in the mid 1980s. Throughout its history, Air Europa has operated Classic 737s, 757s and 767s and following its latest delivery currently has a combination of 17 737-800s and 787 Dreamliners on order from Boeing.
