Boutique Hotel to Open in Santo Domingo in April

Casas del XVI will open April 23 in Ciudad Colonial, a Unesco World Heritage Site in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

The boutique hotel will be managed by Prohotel International.

The hotel initially will open with five houses totaling 17 rooms. Plans call for a complex comprising 20 restored 16th century colonial homes by 2016.

Introductory rates start at $225 per room, per night, double, including daily breakfast prepared each morning by the mayordomo (butler) in each house's kitchen.

Amenities at each house feature a cigar bar, library, indoor and outdoor dining areas, courtyards, tiled floors, antique furnishings, local art and iPhones lent to each guest during their stay.

Casas del XVI will be a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World.
