Caribbean Region to Bring Array of Top-Notch Travel Products at FITUR 2008
The Caribbean countries are ready to present its products, destinations and new features at the first grand tourism event of the year, FITUR 2008, which will take place in Madrid from January 20 to February 3, 2008. Some 250,000 visitors will have the opportunity to discover the various tourism opportunities available throughout the Caribbean paradise.
Featuring the participation of approximately 13,200 companies, FITUR will become a grand centre for business and provide the ideal framework for generating trade relations, boosting contacts and presenting all the latest new features, whilst offering all of the benefits entailed by participation at this grand tourism event.
The ongoing growth and proven capacity of the event make FITUR the most important international fair within the tourism field. In this respect, the Caribbean will add to the growing international dimension at the fair, which is currently represented by the participation of 170 countries/regions.
According to the latest predictions and the favorable progress of the space allocation process and with still two months to go before the event itself, FITUR 2008 is expected to witness some record participation figures, which will exceed those of the last edition when 13,190 companies attended.
Coinciding with the increase in foreign tourism movements throughout the world, based on 842 million in the year 2006 compared to 802 million the previous year, and especially in view of the growth of the Spanish tourist-producing market, FITUR 2008 will strengthen both its exhibition and its level of participation.
In this respect, the growth trend in terms of national and international attendance will once again be reflected at this edition. Bhutan will attend the fair for the first time and countries such as Niger, Azerbaijan and Zimbabwe will return to the event following their success at the last edition, at which they also took part for the first time.
Furthermore, other destinations, such as Portugal, will considerably increase their exhibition space. Spain’s participation, of course, in both business and institutional terms, will be extraordinary, which reveals Spain’s interest in taking part at an established and key forum for the tourism business.
FITUR CONGRESOS will present its unique and highly-effective format, confirming its role as the best means of promoting the international appeal of products and services within this field, as well as helping to address seasonal tourism issues.
