Caribbean Travel Marketplace Event Opens Next Week in Montego Bay

The Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association’s (CHTA) annual Caribbean Travel Marketplace, the region’s largest marketing event, takes place Jan. 12 through 14 at the Montego Bay Convention Center.

"This is a crucial time for the Caribbean, as our hotels and destinations are battling for share of a global market," said Jeffrey S. Vasser, director general and CEO of the CHTA.

"The good news for Caribbean Marketplace 2014 is that we are slightly ahead of 2013 registrations from supplier companies, and we will have buyer companies in attendance from 16 countries," he said. "This strong showing indicates that there is a growing interest in the Caribbean vacation experience."

More than 80 tour operators from 16 countries are slated to meet with 206 supplier companies from 27 Caribbean countries during the two days of business meetings, according to pre-registration numbers from the CHTA.
