Carnival Begins Construction on Three New Ships

Carnival Cruise Lines's Costa Cruises and AIDA Cruises brands will have three new ships join them by 2016. Carnival Cruise Lines has reached agreements for the construction of three new cruise ships: a 132,000-ton vessel for the Costa Cruises brand and two 125,000-ton ships for its AIDA Cruises brand.

Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri signed a contract for the construction of a passenger ship for Costa scheduled for delivery in October 2014, at the cost of $214,652.89 per lower berth. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries also been tasked with building two 3,250-passenger ships for AIDA, scheduled for delivery March 2015 and March 2016, at a cost of $200,342.70 per lower berth.
