China-Owned Company to Renovate Antigua Cruise Port

The government of Antigua signed a $255 million deal with state-owned China Civil Engineering Construction Corp. to renovate the island's main port and harbor in the capital city of St. John's, according to the Antigua Chronicle.
China already has built a stadium and airport terminal in Antigua. The government is seeking a loan from a Chinese bank for the project. Cruise passenger numbers through October totaled close to 377,000, a drop of 6.6% compared to the same period in 2013.
