Comtec Makes Canadian Acquisition
Comtec Group Limited announced its fourth acquisition of 2008 –the Canadian tour operator content management company Comnet Canada Inc. The strategic move is the latest in a series of deals by Comtec to widen the group’s international footprint and distribution capabilities for the leisure travel industry.
Earlier this year Comtec established its presence in North America when the company named Denise Womble general manager and senior vice president of the Americas based in Alexandria, VA. Womble is charged with building relationships with major travel retailers, suppliers and tour operators as well as creating a greater awareness for Comtec in North America.
Comtec’s client base includes tour operators, leisure travel agents and travel suppliers of all sizes. The company designs and delivers a wide range of off-the-shelf and custom-made travel software, including retail travel selling systems, travel agency management systems, online booking solutions and tour operator sales and management systems. Comtec, Americas is a division of Comtec Group Ltd. based in Wales, UK.
Comnet, which started business in Ontario in 2000, gives travel agents the ability to search for and book packaged holidays and charter flights offered by the major tour operators in Canada. The joining of the two technology platforms means that Comtec/Comnet will be able to offer the Canadian travel industry accurate content and effective distribution in the market. Comnet will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Comtec.
