Crystal Caribbean Cruise to Host Jazz Musicians
Crystal Cruises is offering an “Experiences of Discovery Jazz Cruise” on the Crystal Serenity in the Caribbean in December. With live performances from piano solos to trios, quartets and seven-piece bands, the 10-day Caribbean cruise departs from Miami on Dec. 11. The Bill Allred Classic Jazz Band will headline, along with a variety of solo artists. In all, six jazz pianists, nine brass musicians, and eight artists on drums and strings will be accompanied by four jazz vocalists.
Also on board will be jazz historian, professor, author and Grammy Award-nominated producer Dr. Robert G. O’Meally, who performed with Rosemary Clooney, Tony Bennett, and James Taylor; vocalist and bass player Nicki Parrott; and jazz pianist Rossano Sportiello, who plays with jazz luminaries.
Jazzdagen Tours, a veteran at orchestrating jazz tours and cruises worldwide, has partnered with Crystal Cruises to present the musicians onboard.
Sailing from Miami, the cruise visits St. Thomas, Antigua, St. Barts, St. Maarten and Turks & Caicos. Per-person, promotional two-for-one cruise fares start at $3,575, double occupancy, and include $500 shipboard credits. Many of the featured jazz stars will also perform on Crystal Serenity’s 12-day Aug. 24 Mediterranean cruise from Venice to Istanbul, including the Pieter Meijers Quartet.
