Cuba´s Excellencies in the Olympics

Havana´s Meliá Cohiba Hotel hosted Wednesday the presentation of the special issue of Cuba´s Excellencies magazine in a meeting attended by well-known Cuban athletes and top personalities. This time around, the publication is entirely devoted to Cuban sports and the island nation´s participation in the upcoming Olympic Games in Athens.

The presentation was presided over by Humberto Rodriguez, president of the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation (INDER); Jose Ramon Fernandez, vice president of the Council of Ministers and president of the Cuban Olympic Committee, and Jose Carlos de Santiago, president and CEO of Exclusivas Latinoamericanas, publisher of the Caribbean Tourist Excellencies magazine.

Members of the diplomatic corps stationed in Cuba, authorities from the island nation´s culture, sports and tourism institutions, representatives of news organizations, sports newscasters, businesspeople and entrepreneurs also attended the ceremony.

INDER President Humberto Rodriguez praised the publisher´s effort to put out a special issue in record time and thanked Exclusivas Latinoamericanas President and CEO Jose Carlos de Santiago, who also had the floor to underscore his company´s permanent willingness and interest in promoting Cuba in the world scene. The ceremony concluded with a cultural show emceed by Cuban actress Susana Perez and marked by the high-octane performances of Los Zafiros, Carlos Ruiz de la Tejera and crooner Laritza Bacallao accompanied by guitarist Silvio Tarin.

This special issue of Cuba´s Excellencies -printed both in Spanish and English- will travel to Athens in the suitcases of the island nation´s sport delegation to be doled out among the participating athletes and the public
