Dominican airline Pawa has been allowed to fly to Cuba, Dominican Civil Aviation Board (JAC) president Roger Jover announced Monday. EFE reports that Pawa announced flights to Havana starting late November, becoming the only local airline to ply the route, after having received official authorization to travel to the island nation. The local carrier currently flies passengers to Caribbean destinations such as Aruba, Curacao and St. Marteen. Speaking after a mass to mark International Civil Aviation Day, Jover said four other airlines will join the market starting January 5 with direct flights from various destinations to Punta Cana (east).
