The Dominican Republic Becomes Partner Country of Russia’s MITT 2012

The Dominican Republic’s development on the Russian market officially began at the end of 2004, when the Ministry’s representative office started operating in Russia. In 2004, the Dominican Republic received less than 3,000 visitors from Russia.
In the seven years since the office was set up, the country has entered the list of the top-ten destinations, and by the end of 2011 the flow of tourists to the country exceeded 100,000.
This degree of success could not remain unnoticed. Out of 30 countries where the Ministry has an operational office, such rapid growth, up to 60 percent a month and more, is almost unrivalled. The huge potential of the Russian tourist market has been officially recognized in all destinations.
Our country’s government was no exception. 2012 for us will be a year of particular development. The plans include the opening of an official office in Moscow and dynamic regional development.
We traditionally participate in the main exhibitions in Russia and Ukraine and have also now added projects in Kazakhstan and Belarus. The representative office of the Dominican Republic Ministry of Tourism has been participating at MITT since 2005.
We began with a 40-square-meter stand, constantly increasing our presence in line with the flow of tourists from Russia to the Dominican Republic. For us, this exhibition, along with the autumn one, is of primary significance and its importance has also been recognized by our co-exhibitors: hotels and host agencies in the Dominican Republic.
In 2012, we have decided to participate in the exhibition with the “Partner Country” sponsorship package, to mark the beginning of our active promotion in the market. As part of this sponsorship package, we intend to hold a Dominican Republic Day at the stand and familiarize visitors and exhibitors with the country’s traditions and culture.
The participation of a cultural delegation and a twisting cigar craftsman is proposed for this event. The Dominican Republic Day will also feature a country presentation and a welcome cocktail for colleagues and partners.
