Excelencias Group Praises Dominican Republic’s Efforts to Become High-End Travel Destination in the Caribbean

Within the framework of ITB Berlin 2007, the Excelencias Group handed out its Tourism Excellencies Awards Bronze Prize to the Dominican Republic in recognition to the country’s strategic and policy shift to try to become a high-end travel destination in the Caribbean.

The award was presented to Petra Cruz, Chief of the Dominican Tourism Office in Germany and Europe in a ceremony attended by Dominican Tourism Secretary Felix Jimenez and a number of businesspeople from that Caribbean country.

The jury that called all shots as to the organization and presentation of the awards was presided over by Jose Carlos de Santiago, President and CEO of the Excelencias Group. Other jury members were Javier Castillo, Director General and Co-President of Air Asturias; Herminio Galvez, Sales Manager for SuperClubs Resorts in Europe; Jorge Collantes, Head of the Human Resources and Research Division of the Centro Español de Nuevas Profesiones; Javier Navarrete, former Marketing and PR Manager of Grupo Argentaria BBVA; Jaime Hernandez, former Communications and PR Manager of General Motors, and David Sanchez Sotillo, Chief of Internet and Web-Based Operations for Bankinter.
