Moscow, April 1 – Jose Carlos de Santiago, President and CEO of Spain’s Excelencias Group is fulfilling a tight working agenda in the Russian capital as part of a delegation of Spanish businesspeople paying a visit to the country at the request of the Madrid Chamber of Commerce and the Spanish embassy to Moscow.

Mr. Santiago’s stay here –his second visit in less than a month- bears out his company’s commitment to the Russian market at a time when the European nation is opening up to foreign markets in an effort to stave off the deep economic and financial crisis triggered by skyrocketing oil prices a few months ago.

After attending three major international travel tradeshows –Moscow’s MITT and Intourmarket, and UITT in Kiev, Ukraine- the Excelencias Group, headed by its editor and president, is getting wiggle room for its flagship products: the Caribbean & the Americas Tourist Excellences and Excelencias Travel magazines, with their corresponding online versions, and the Caribbean News Digital online newspaper in Russian language.

This time around, Mr. Santiago’s visit as member of a Spanish commercial mission and his meetings with execs from the top Russian companies dealing with the publishing industry, publications and public relations, is highlighted by the tremendous acclaim the Excelencias Group’s products have had here, as well as to the specific intention of his counterparts in Moscow to learn from the group’s rich experience and apply it in the promotion of that travel market to and from Eastern Europe, the Caribbean and the Americas on the whole.

All of the above, backed up by agreements recently signed, guarantee a dramatic increase in the distribution of the Excelencias Group’s products in that particular market. According to Spanish ambassador to Russia, Juan Antonio March Pujol, “this is the right time to put one’s smart money on this market.”
