Excellencies kicks off activity schedule to mark its fifth anniversary
Within the framework of the activities planned to celebrate the fifth birthday of Excellencies Publications, the Seminar on Global Communications: a look from southern Spain took place last February 17 at the Sanguily Theater in the School of History and Philosophy of the Havana University.
The seminar was presided over by Jose Carlos de Santiago, editor-in-chief of Caribbean Tourist Excellencies magazine, who talked about the group’s work in Cuba for the past five years. Mr. Santiago was accompanied by major personalities of the communications and publicity realm in Spain who also touched on their personal experiences in the field. The entourage included Alfonso Marin Caffarena, associate director of IPUNTO Publicidad S.A.; Rafael Marin Montilla, marketing director of El Mundo newspaper (Andalusia); Nicolas Muela Velasco, director-general of both Communication and Development of Economic Activities in Andalusia and Club Camara 500, and Manuel Rodriguez Lopez, planning director of Communication and Development of Economic Activities in Andalusia who’s also a usual contributor to several news outlets.
Such topics as the social influence exerted by audiovisual means, publicity, PR and communication techniques were largely broached in this seminar that provided the perfect setting to exchange views among experts on this particular matter. Likewise, the seminar gave way to an open and fluent debate among attendants who had the opportunity of speaking their minds on different perspectives.
Representatives of Cuba’s radio and TV, news analysts, Cubana de Aviacion officials, news people from all major local media groups –like Granma newspaper and Prensa Latina news agency- and from such institutions as Publicitur and CEDAL, as well as professors and students of the School of Audiovisual Communications at the Higher Institute of Communication Art and Mastery attached to Havana’s School of Communication, were among the top Cuban personalities that attended the seminar.
With this seminar, Excellencies Publications has commenced a plan of activities that would stretch out all through 2003 to mark the group’s fifth anniversary and pave the way for the work ahead in coming years.
