Fairmont Southampton Getting Renovation
The Fairmont Southampton in Bermuda is undergoing an $11.5 million renovation of 235 of its 407 guestrooms this winter. The first phase is due to be completed by May. An additional 172 rooms are scheduled to be renovated next December, with completion slated for May 2015.
"The renovation project will help to maintain the hotel's prominent position in Bermuda," said George Terpilowski, managing director. "The new décor will be more in keeping with the preferences of today's travelers while maintaining the island character of the resort."
The new contemporary design will include expansive desks, larger bathrooms and walk-in closets. The hotel's Wifi offerings have been upgraded to include most of the property, including the beach.
The room renovations follow recent enhancements to the resort's restaurants, including the launch of the Newport, the Dock at the Waterlot and the repositioning of the Ocean Club. The Fairmont Southampton and its sister property, Fairmont Hamilton Princess, comprise 25% of the room stock on Bermuda.
