Grupo Excelencias Receives AEEPP Recognition for Fourth Year in a Row

The Spanish Association of Periodical Publishers (AEEPP), which delivered its 2012 Editor awards on Thursday as part of an event that has reached its seventh edition, decided once again to give our Grupo Excelencias one of its recognitions, handing this time around the Internationalization Award for issues in Russian and German languages of its Excelencias Turisticas del Caribe y las Americas magazine.

This is the fourth consecutive prize nabbed by our group in a contest that has become the most prestigious event of the industry in Spain and is summoned by the main association of press editors in the country, with 120 associates that publish over 700 headlines.

Our award was picked up by Veronica de Santiago, editor of Grupo Excelencias, during a ceremony presided over by Madrid Mayor Ana Botella and AEEPP President Arsenio Escolar, at Jardines de Cecilio Rodriguez, Parque del Retiro in Madrid. The event was attended by countless politic, social, economic and editorial boldface names.

Mayor Ana Botella delivered the Jury’s Special Award, as Public Institution, to the Special Olympics Committee of Spain, picked up by its president, Miguel Carballeda and two Olympic winners: bonze-medalist swimmer Deborah Font, and Alejandro Zarzuela, member of the Spanish basketball team during the London Games. The ceremony came to an end with a speech that highlighted the importance of endeavors and unity to succeed and get over difficulties.

The AEEPP President delivered the keynote remarks while the awards were presented to the  prizewinners in the rest of the categories and pointed out how, in order to face the crisis, Spanish editors are "taking close bends" and are still "capable of innovating and risking, and starting up new initiatives ", in spite of the "economic crisis combined with the structure of the model, which is decisively changing."

The Solidarity Award was given to Blas Mendez Ponce Foundation, which provides assistance for children that suffer from oncological problems, and it was collected by its president, Milagros Ponce Martin.

Besides the prizes to the different categories of 2012 Editor of the Year, which are detailed below, advertising and agencies sectors were also awarded.

The award in the Campaign of the Year category went to the campaign developed by BANCO SABADELL and was collected by Ramon Domenech, director of Marketing BS. On the other hand, the prize to the Advertiser of the Year was given to Coca Cola, which has tried to print an outstanding note of optimism and encouragement within a difficult situation. Its Corporative Communication director, Carlos Chaguaceda, received it.

YMEDIA was chosen 2012 Media Agency, recognition hand to its president, Jose Manuel Casero. Jose Luis Rodriguez, president and director general of Nueva Economia Forum collected the Professional Trajectory Award.

The jury for this event was made up of: Arsenio Escolar Ramos, President of AEEPP and Editorial Director of 20 Minutos; Miguel Justribo, Strategy vice-president of G2 España; Jose Manuel Velasco, president of DIRCOM and Communication Director of FCC; Joaquin Abad, Delegate Consultant of Grupo Cibeles, Jose Manuel Gonzalez Huesa, Director General of Servimedia; Miguel de Haro, President of IPMark and Claudia Trimde, Director General of LeCity deLuxe.
