Haiti Featured as Guest of Honor of Caribbean Tourism Exchange

The annual Caribbean Tourism Exchange was held from June 28 to 30 in the Dominican Republic, at the Hotel Fiesta. Haiti was the guest of honor of this important event.
A delegation of Haitian businessmen, hotel owners, travel agencies, led by Stéphanie Balmir Villedrouin, the Minister of Tourism, traveled to this event. The Ministry had a booth at the BTC to promote Haiti as a tourist destination and where the Minister presented its action plan.
The "Bolsa Turística del Caribe" is intended to be a Business Travel Portal, where sellers and buyers can establish business relationships with tourism professionals participating coming from major tourist markets, of South America, Central America , Caribbean, Mexico, the United States and Europe.
In this edition BTC 2012, the government of Dominican Republic and private sector representatives of the tourism sector held a working meeting with the Mayors of Mayagüez (Puerto Rico's third city) and Cap-Haitien (Haiti's second city), to define the conditions under which will be realized the multi-destination tourism.
As is tradition, BTC 2012 included a fair where exhibitors could offer their products directly to intermediate of services, and national and international tour operators and interact with hotel chains, hotels, airlines and travel agencies.
In addition, a craft show, a food festival and conference spaces for professionals and students in tourism, were planned in the program.
