InselAir Adds Trinidad to Route Network
Curacao airline InselAir relaunched Trinidad as its 20th destination with a festive early breakfast at Curacao International Airport followed by the inaugural flight to Piarco International Airport in Port of Spain. The flight was operated with a Fokker 70, with 80 seats, which was acquired by InselAir earlier this year.
InselAir will operate flights from Curacao to Port-of-Spain three times per week on Mondays and Thursdays, departing Curacao at 10:30 am and arriving in Trinidad at 12 pm. On Tuesdays the flight leaves at 4:15 pm and arrives in Trinidad at 5:45 pm, which provides business travellers a perfect schedule for a two-day business trip.
Jurgen Lippinkhof, chief commercial officer of InselAir, addressed the audience in Trinidad and explained the relaunch of the route.
“We see an increasing demand from not only Curacao and Trinidad, but also from Aruba and Bonaire and from our destinations in Venezuela. This is a good example of InselAir’s strategic hub function on Curacao. We are able to transport an increasing amount of passengers throughout the Pan American region due to the increasing scale of our network,” said Lippinkhof.
“More and more passengers from within the Pan American region are getting used to our large network and therefore often choose InselAir to connect to their final destination. Through strong collaborations with our partner airlines, such as KLM/Air France, Avianca and GOL, passengers from all InselAir destinations are able to reach destinations in South America, Europe, North America and even Asia. From Trinidad for instance, through Curacao, passengers have a seamless connection to Amsterdam via KLM,” he added.
InselAir and its guests were enthusiastically welcomed in Trinidad by the local authorities and local representative Lazzari & Sampson Limited.
“The market has responded well to the relaunch of this route,” elaborated Namie Ali, sales and marketing manager at Lazzari & Sampson.
“We have sold more tickets than we expected and we are looking forward to a long-lasting relationship between Lazzari and InselAir,” Ali concluded.
On the heels of Monday’s relaunch event, InselAir will get ready to celebrate the launch of another route. On Thursday, InselAir will start non-stop service from Curacao to Georgetown, Guyana. Flights from Curacao to Georgetown will be on Thursdays and Sundays at 8:15 pm and will arrive at 10:20 pm in Georgetown. Flights from Georgetown will be on Fridays and Mondays at 6:45 am and will arrive in Curacao at 8:50 am (all times are local times in the departure/arrival city).
Passengers from St Maarten will enjoy a convenient and seamless connection from Princess Juliana Airport in St Maarten via InselAir’s hub on Curacao to Georgetown and vice versa. Earlier this year InselAir already introduced its Aruba – Georgetown route.
“By adding direct flights from Curacao to Georgetown, our passengers from Georgetown will now have more options to enter InselAir’s extensive route network, which will enable them to connect seamlessly to destinations such as Aruba, Bonaire, Miami, St Maarten, Santo Domingo, Caracas, Las Piedras and Port-of-Spain,” Lippinkhof explained.
InselAir will also add Aruba – Manaus (Brazil) and Miami – Havana to its network in January 2015 and will then serve 22 destinations from its hubs on Aruba and Curacao. In 2015 InselAir expects to add more routes to its network to include, amongst other routes, Cali and Bucaramanga in Colombia, San Juan in Puerto Rico and Quito in Ecuador.
