Interjet Starts Havana-Merida Service

The Mexican airline, Interjet, commenced flights between Havana and Merida-Yucatan, Mexico, the airline announced in a statement on April 9.

The statement said that the inaugural flight was met in Merida by Rolando Zapata, the governor of the state of Yucatan.

The twice weekly route will help to boost flights from Mexico to Cuba. The company also flies from Havana to Mexico City, Cancun and Monterrey.

Gabriela Jimenez, director of international relations department at Interjet, said that Havana is Interjet’s second destination from Merida. She stated that the route is part of the 80 flights per week to and from Merida that the company makes.
