Delegates from across the globe witnessed the resurgent travel industry of Blackpool, a British town located in Lancashire, as Jet2, the low-cost airline, and Blackpool Airport worked in tandem to raise Blackpool´s profile to delegates at the FITUR International Travel Conference in Madrid.

The event was the first on the international calendar for professionals in the tourist trade and ran from January 25 to 29. It forms the cornerstone for the Spanish Tourism industry´s year and is a significant opportunity to boost both outbound and incoming tourism.

“FITUR is a wonderful opportunity to promote Blackpool as a top tourist destination and our flights will help to solidify the town´s position as one of the most exciting tourist prospects for the Spanish market,” said Jet2 boss Philip Meeson. “With many delegates coming to Madrid from the Costa Blanca and the Costa Calida we are confident that inbound tourism to Blackpool will be significantly encouraged.”

“We are delighted to be at the FITUR conference this year and we very much look forward to promoting Blackpool as a major tourist destination for Spanish travelers,” said Gareth Kennedy, Director of business development at Blackpool Airport. “Working with Jet2 enables us to promote Blackpool and the surrounding area, including the Lake District, in the knowledge that many more people can now visit the town at the lowest possible prices.”
