JetBlue's Premium Experience Begins Flying to Barbados from Boston

JetBlue Airways’ highly successful Mint experience is now out for sale from Boston's Logan International Airport (BOS) to Barbados (BGI). With JetBlue’s Mint experience, customers travelling from Boston will have a premium travel option, giving jetsetters a new reason to head to the sun-drenched island.

JetBlue will operate a weekly Saturday roundtrip between Boston and Barbados from November 7, 2015, and from beginning March 2016, the aircraft will change to an A321 Mint configured aircraft offering 16 lie-flat seats. JetBlue previously announced seasonal Mint service to Barbados from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport beginning in November 2015.

“Barbados has developed a fruitful long-standing partnership with JetBlue,” said Petra Roach, Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. (BTMI), director, USA. “We are appreciative of the confidence shown in our destination with the introduction of this premium product from Boston exclusively to Barbados outside the USA. This is an endorsement of Barbados as a premium destination which offers a high level of premium service, premium accommodation and premium experiences in line with the expectations of a Mint customer. I strongly believe that we will have a strong performance in this Massachusetts area and look forward to further building the connectivity between New England and little England as Barbados is affectionately called.”

Since launching on transcontinental routes in June 2014, Mint has quickly become recognized for its whole new take on flying, which includes private suites, the widest seat and longest fully-flat bed in the US domestic market, tapas-style dining, custom amenity kits and 15-inch flat screen televisions with free entertainment. With Mint service to the Caribbean, JetBlue will become the only US carrier to operate regularly scheduled service with lie-flat seating to the region.

Barbados is one of the most popular Caribbean travel routes on JetBlue’s growing route map, and one of more than 90 destinations throughout the US, Caribbean, and Latin America. As part of its expansion, JetBlue will also introduce cross-country Mint flights from San Francisco and Los Angeles to Boston allowing West Coast travelers to extend their travels to Barbados. With incredible on-island musical performances, epicurean driven festivals, and motor sport tournaments, 2015 marks the perfect year to travel to Barbados immerse oneself in the distinctive culture and one-of-a-kind events the island has to offer.

JetBlue's Mint experience to the islands will add a Caribbean twist to some customer favorites, including the tapas-style menu curated by New York City restaurant Saxon+Parole, organic desserts by Blue Marble Ice Cream, a sweet treat from Mah-ze-Dahr Bakery, and customized amenity kits from Birchbox.

"JetBlue's expansion at Boston Logan Airport is great news for all Bostonians and the millions of travelers who use the airport every year," said Boston’s economic development chief, John Barros. "Additional JetBlue flights from Logan Airport to domestic and international destinations deepen the airline's connection to Boston and Boston's connection to the world."

JetBlue offers Mint on its new Airbus A321 aircraft, which features a completely redesigned onboard experience throughout the entire cabin.

While the Mint experience has set new premium standards, the core experience leads other airlines' offerings as well. Features of the A321 core interior include 10-inch television screens offering free entertainment, comfortable seats with the most legroom in coach and power outlets accessible to all customers. JetBlue's popular marketplace, a self-serve station full of snacks, sodas and water for customers to enjoy at their convenience, is also available throughout the flight.
