The future of the tourist industry is the topic that this week brought together travel agents, tour operators and experts from the sector in Panama for the Annual Congress of the Confederation of Latin American Tourist Organizations (COTAL).

The new challenges for travel agencies, the sector’s tribulations, pros and cons of the all-inclusive system stacked up against conventional hotels, and training of the sector’s staff were some of the topics broached in the meeting.

In the same breath, participants held a tourist tradeshow in an effort to allow local companies to show off their own advantages and conveniences in assisting foreigners.

COTAL was founded in Mexico back in 1957 and its chief goals revolve around the promotion and advertisement of the very best of the world’s tourist market in the region.
