Lima Set to Host Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants Awards
Consolidating the coming to prominence of the Peruvian gastronomy and its trends in the global stage, Peru’s capital Lima is set to host the annual edition of Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants awards, Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister, Magali Silva said.
For the second straight year, Lima has been selected to host the ceremony.
“It is a recognition that places the country as a leading destination for the tourism and travel industries worldwide,” he said.
Organized by William Reed Business Media, the greatest chefs and culinary masters of the region will converge to Peru to take part of the event which is due to take place on September 3.
At the 2013’s inaugural awards, the Peruvian eatery Astrid y Gaston, owned by celebrated chef Gaston Acurio, gained the title of pre-eminent dining location in the region, outperforming world famous places such as Brazil’s D.O.M.
Likewise, Peru confirms its position as a leader in Latin America’s dining scene with four trendy Lima-based restaurants which secured coveted positions on the list, including Maido (no.11), Rafael (no.13), Fiesta (no.14) and La Mar (no.15).
The results of this year’s edition will be compiled following consultations with over 250 Latin American restaurant-industry experts.
